With the Juventus forward line nearly set with last season’s title-winning forwards boosted by Spanish star Fernando Llorente, does the new big-name signing Carlos Teves have to lose a bit of weight over preseason to mark his place in the first team next term?
Juve fans and critics alike agreed at the end of last season that the squad needs a real predatory goal-scorer if they’re to win a third-in-a-row Serie A title and fight for a spot in the Champions League final. Mirko Vucinic’s inconsistency in his tenure at Juventus has left the front line with a few questions, with Quagliarella, Giovinco, and Matri seemingly not providing enough answers.
Combined the forwards scored just 34 goals in all competitions, and were it not for team contributions and a solid defence Juventus may not have won the league. What Juve need is a 20+ goal player and, while the new signings have yet to prove themselves, there’s no doubt that Antonio Conte thinks Tevez is the answer.
But if Tevez is to beat off competition for a starting place next season he needs to prove his fitness this summer. Reportedly Tevez was criticized by coach Antonio Conte for being overweight during his medical last month. According to reports from Argentina, Carlos Tevez was told by the Juventus coaching staff that he needs to drop at least six kilos (13 pounds).
It’s always good to start preseason fit and healthy, so if Tevez wants to impress Conte he should follow some sound advice and try weight loss shakes. The shakes work by acting as meal replacements, so you get all the goodness and mass from a meal without the fats and E-numbers found in other foods.
This preseason most of the squad will relax a bit, probably drink too much and enjoy far too many barbecues on the beach. Carlos Tevez, conversely, should stick to a training regime and keep focus on the season ahead. Regular weight loss shakes could see him shed a good pound or two before the team reconvene, and his commitment to his body may even help repay Conte’s faith in him as the new key striker for next season.
